Tuesday 22nd of April – Bird List – Edinburgh UK.

April 22, 2014 in sightings

As many of you know I’ve got bad carpal tunnel and torn ankle tendons so not been doing a lot of bird watching or computer work, over March and April I was spending a lot of time when I could use my hands working on www.saverscene.co.uk/isa/ – to help people find the top ISA interest rates, now that the peak season is over it frees my hands to get back to work on birdwatching and updating here and my Australian website which helps my Aussie friends find discounts and great savings interest rates: Saver Scene New Bargains.

Now onto the birds, I’ve come to the site a few times over the past month to check if the dates align with when I first noticed birds pairing up.  I’ve got a pair of blue tits nesting in one of my RSPB nestbox and I’ve notice a lot of pair bonding which is great!

  1. Blackbird x 1
  2. Blue Tit x 1
  3. Dunnock x 2
  4. Magpie x 1
  5. Starlings x 20 – still flying at dusk
  6. Woodpigeon x 1

Monday 14th of April 2014

April 16, 2014 in sightings

I thought I’d list the fact that I’ve seen Long-tailed tits for the first time in a while, I heard them a while before I got to see them, only 2 of them, not the normal 5 or more flocks that I’m used to seeing.

I’m still really having problems with carpal tunnel at the moment.  It’s really suffering my other work and I’ve not been able to photograph for months now.  Very sorry about this.

The finches are back! Greenfinch and Bullfinch.

April 3, 2014 in sightings

Although my hands are a bit too sore to be picking up a camera, bins and sadly if I’m at my computer I have to do work on ISA updates as there’s loads of changes: http://www.saverscene.co.uk/isa/ – due to the end of financial year.  I have been keeping an eye on the garden and the amount of nesting that’s happening looks promising, hopefully the last of the cold weather is over.

The last 2 or 3 days I’ve started to notice Greenfinches and Bullfinches which is always exciting for me!

I navigated my wife out to Falkirk today as she had to pick up tickets to Adam Ant, of course I used it as a chance to spot  a few motorway birds, sadly I spotted a dead common buzzard on the side of the road.  there were thankfully a few alive birds including Oystercatchers, Crows, Jackdaws and Pheasants.
