Minsmere on the Suffolk coast today

October 12, 2014 in sightings

Today I had a day when I did not have to do anything else so went to Minsmere today.

Got a good list

Woodpigeon, Moorhen, Little Egret, Cetti’s Warbler heard only but 3 or 4 different ones, Blue Tit, Robin, Chiffchaff, Magpie, Herring Gull, Barnacle Goose, Lapwing, Wheatear, Wigeon, Little Stint, Teal, Black Tailed Godwit, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Grey Heron, Avocet, Shellduck, Snipe, Ringed Plover, Pied Wagtail, Greylag Goose, Cormorant, Mute Swan, Shoveler, Mallard, Brent Goose, Canada Goose, Gadwall.

A few notes

Barnacle goose – this was a nice flock of about 30 flew over where I was twice and also landed just out to sea.

Wheatear – nice views – must be a late departing bird

Little Stint – as far as I can recall I have never seen these before – or at least managed a positive ID

Snipe – 2 birds showing well with reasonable close views

Ringed Plover 15+ mostly looked like juveniles sticking together

Brent Goose – 2 the first of what should be many in this area for the winter

My hands have still been quite rubbish, but I have been getting a little bit done for the money pages on Saver Scene Australia – Comparing best savings accounts and in the UK as Vegan month comes up in November I’m helping my wife a vegan get a new website organised called Vegans.UK which will have vegan restaurant reviews, as well as restaurants that cater for vegans but aren’t actually vegan, things like Toby Carvery and the Wetherspoon pubs are often great haunts if in an area where you’re unsure of restaurant choice for vegans. The restaurant reviews will be listed here Restaurants that cater for vegans and there’ll also be a social area with Vegan Forums and Vegan Social Network, this keeps me very busy when my hands are able to do it.  Hopefully be all ready for November 1st with loads of updates through Vegan Month.
